Madrid Open 2025: Updated schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details

Madrid is all set to host two weeks of thrilling tennis action.
The ATP calendar’s second Masters 1000 clay event—Madrid Open 2025—is upon us, with nearly all top seeds making the entry list, barring Jannik Sinner who remains the World No #1 despite his suspension. Carlos Alcaraz, who won in Monte Carlo, went down to Holger Rune in a draining physical battle, to concede his second spot yet again to Alexander Zverev.
The German on the other hand, returned to winning ways as he claimed a hat-trick in Munich. With Zverev peaking at the right time, the path to the second spot seems challenging for the Spaniard, who has withdrawn from Madrid Open owing to a double injury conerns. There will be other forces to reckon in Madrid.
An in-form Holger Rune will hope to stabilize his position in the top-10, while Stefanos Tsitsipas hasn’t won a title yet this year on his favourite surface and would be desperate for a re-entry in the top-10 ATP rankings.
Taylor Fritz returns from injury to mark his first clay outing of the season, but all eyes will yet again be on three-time Madrid Open champion, Novak Djokovic. The Serbian has played a lot more this year, with mixed results. The 37-year-old has enjoyed the highs of Australian Open and Miami, but poor results in Qatar, Indian Wells and Monte Carlo, have raised question marks on his consistency.

In the women’s field, defending champion Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka start favourites, however the top seeds were stunned by an inspired Jelena Ostapenko, who continued her sensational record against the Pole to triumph in Stuttgart. The Latvian is set to cross paths with Swiatek yet again in a potential R16 battle, promising a spicy battle.
Swiatek comes into Madrid defending 1000 ranking points and will be keen to find answers if she faces Ostapenko, who holds a commanding 6-0 head-to-head record over the World No #2. Jasmine Paolini and Mirra Andreeva are among the other strong contenders in the women’s draw.

Meanwhile, Elena Rybakina’s return adds another layer of competition. The Kazakh, who missed the Stuttgart Open, has dropped out of the WTA top 10 for the first time since 2023. Still, a fully fit Rybakina remains a major threat and could trouble even the top seeds.
When will the Madrid Open 2025 begin?
The 2025 Madrid Open is scheduled from April 22 to May 4. The men’s main draw begins on April 23, with the final set for May 4. The women’s main draw starts on April 22, concluding with the final on May 3
Where will the Madrid Open 2025 be held?
The tournament will be held at the Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain. This venue has been hosting the event since its inception in 2002.
