Five worst WWE Royal Rumble Winners in history
WWE Royal Rumble is one of the most anticipated pay-per-views, which is especially known for its Royal Rumble matches. The event kicks off the road to WrestleMania and the match provides a great opportunity for the stars to punch their ticket to main event WrestleMania with a guaranteed title shot.
So far we have witnessed 36 rumble matches in the men’s and 6 in the women’s division. Some wrestlers had become top stars after winning and some had won multiple times. We came out with five of the worst WWE Royal Rumble winners in WWE history.
5. Edge (2021)
In 2021 Edge as a partimer returned after a long hiatus and entered the Rumble match as #1 entrant and went on to win the Royal Rumble match. Edge had no ongoing storylines then and all of a sudden was booked to win the Rumble match.
His road to WrestleMania was booked worse when it added Daniel Bryan to the match as a part of the sideline feud of Edge, which hasn’t made any sense. Instead of Edge, it should have been Bobby Lashley who should have won the Rumble match. Lashley was at the peak during the time with his Hurt Business stable. However, Lashley anyway won the WWE Championship after.
4. Charlotte Flair (2020)
Charlotte Flair won the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble by entering at #17 and last eliminating Shayna Baszler. This was one of the worst booking decisions made by WWE.
Charlotte used the opportunity to challenge for WWE’s developmental territory’s NXT Women’s Championship, which makes absolutely no sense. Instead of Charlotte, it should have been Baszler who should have won the match, who had eight eliminations and showcased domination throughout the match.
3. Batista (2014)
Batista returned to WWE in 2014 at the Royal Rumble match and won by eliminating Roman Reigns. Although Batista is one of the fan favourites, he received a huge boo from the WWE Universe. Which made his second return the worst decision of his life.
The fan’s favourite Daniel Bryan was not part of the rumble match, and fans were expecting Roman to win the match for his 12 eliminations, but The Animal’s return made it a disappointment.

2. Alberto Del Rio (2011)
The 2011 Royal Rumble is one of the bizarre Rumble matches featuring 40 WWE stars. Although it seems like the Greatest Royal Rumble kind of a match, it was booked too badly.
Alberto Del Rio won the match by entering at #38 by last eliminating Santino Marella. Instead of him, CM Punk should have won the match as it was the year he transformed into a great heel with his New Nexus Stable and had 7 eliminations in the match, by completely dominating halfway through the match.
1. Vince McMahon (1999)
Vince McMahon won the 1999 Royal Rumble by eliminating Stone Cold Steve Austin. It was one of the worst decisions to ever be made in the company. McMahon entered number 2 and spent most of his time in the commentary desk and away from the ring.
However, Stone Cold who should have won the match had absolute dominance with 8 eliminations should have won the match. Although Vince won the rumble, he lost his title opportunity to Austin and he went to main event WrestleMania and won the WWF Championship.
