‘The Best in the World’ returned to WWE in 2023

CM Punk is one of the most popular professional wrestlers around the world. He has been in the wrestling industry for over 18 years and has always turned out to be one of the best wrestlers with great mic and in-ring skills and is widely celebrated by fans.

Punk is currently in WWE and is having an incredible second run in the company, rewriting his controversial career in the past. Punk has a huge passion towards wrestling, despite having a long time away from the industry. The second city saint in a recent interview revealed who influenced him to become a professional wrestler, recalling the past.

CM Punk names Roddy Piper as his inspiration

In a recent interview with Roots of Fight, CM Punk opened up by saying that Roddy Piper was his inspiration to become a professional wrestler. Punk remembered his childhood days watching WWE on television. Where he saw giant wrestlers like Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior, however, Piper stood unique for his small stature. However, he came to know he was a millionaire through this business and made up his mind to get into pro-wrestling.

CM Punk said, “[Roddy] Piper is special to me because Piper was, and is, the reason I became a professional wrestler. I’m from the Midwest, so we predominantly got WWE television. So I saw Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, all these big, giant dudes and then you know, you discover Roddy Piper and he’s a ‘smaller’ guy, just talking mass amounts of s**t and he was on my television. So, I just figured he was a millionaire and I was like, ‘That’s it. That’s what I want to do.’”

Roddy Piper is a professional wrestling legend, who had one of the most inspiring and charismatic pro-wrestling careers in the 1980s and early 90s. He is considered one of the best wrestlers in the industry, with great microphone skills and wrestling skills. He is one of the key wrestlers for the growth of WWF (now WWE) and has been an icon for many superstars over the years.

Punk and Piper have a lot of similarities when it comes to bravery, microphone skills, in-ring capabilities and inspiring the future generation of wrestlers.
