WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights & Winners (March 15, 2024): The Rock's Concert & WrestleMania 40 matches

The Rock sang, three matches confirmed for WrestleMania, two teams qualified, Damage CTRL dominated & much more!
The March 15, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown is officially over and it is one of the fun loaded WWE episodes in recent times. The show hosted a number of segments, which confirmed some of the matches for WrestleMania 40. Get to know what happened this week on SmackDown, as we came up with the complete summary, highlights, results and winners of this week’s episode.
WWE SmackDown Summary & Highlights
The Rock’s Concert
The Great One kicks-off Friday Night SmackDown and he’s got the heel theme. The Rock received agreat reception from the WWE Universe in Memphis. The Rock said that Memphis is different, here is where The Rock started his pro-wrestling career. Flex Kavana was his name back then. The Rock loves the WWE Universe there. He says that he is back home and looks to have fun. The Rock gonnna sing a song.
The Rock sung a song of what’s gonna happen to Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40, the birth of Cody Rhodes, who & what he gonna do for Seth Rollins, & a song for the Cody Cry Babies.
After singing, The Rock addresses about Cody slapping him. The Rock laughs at Cody’s crying interview on Raw. He mocks Cody and talks to Momma Rhodes. He sends a message to her saying that Rhodes took something from him and he’ll make him pay.
The Rock says that Cody will be bringing a belt to the home, but its not the Universal Championship, but the weight belt, with which he gonna smash Cody & make him bleed. He’ll then whisper in Cody’s mom ears and say “You’re Welcome” and ends up the segment with “If you smell what the Final Boss is cooking!”
Tag Team Championship Qualification Match- Latino World Order vs Legado Del Fantasma
Angel & Humberto took control of Del Toro with quick tag-ins. Del Toro fights back and tags Wilde. They sent LDF out of the ring and hit a over the top rope senton. Wilde takes down Humberto and tags Del Toro for a double team Moonsault from the springboard.
After the commercial, Humberto looks to tag Del Toro, took him to their corner and tags Angel. Both with back to back tag-ins threw Del Toro with a military press over the top rope. Del Toro hit a Spanish Fly & tags Wilde. He’s fired up and takes both the members of LDF.
Del Toro took Humberto with a Hurricanrana and Angel with a Superkick. However, when he tried to slide kick Humberto, he pushed him to the barricade. They dragged him to the ring Threw him high and kicked him on the mid section for the win. LDF qualifies for the Tag Team Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania 40.
LA Knight Interview / LA Knight vs AJ Styles for WrestleMania 40
LA Knight is asked about his search for AJ Styles and he wants to cook alone. Last week AJ Styles asked Knight to be humble and he want Styles to come out humble. Styles didn’t show up here, but chased him to Australia. He challenges AJ Styles for a match at WrestleMania 40 & Styles attacked Kingt from the back with a steel chair. Styles sat over Knight and accepted the challenge.
Logan Paul meets Nick Aldis
Logan Paul came to meet Nick Aldis and asked about what is his action of Randy Orton’s act of spoiling the biggest sponsorship moment. Aldis asked Logan to call out him and ask for an apology, but Logan says that is Aldis’ duty. However he can’t make it because, he didn’t even find him an opponent for WrestleMania.
Jimmy Uso addresses Jey Uso’s challenge
Jimmy Uso addresses Jey Uso’s challenge. He says that he raised Jey Uso, last year it was Jimmy & Jey, but now it’s Jimmy vs Jey. He accepts the challenge with Yeet!
Randy Orton vs Grayson Waller
Logan Paul arrived to ringside before the match. Randy Orton is distracted with Logan’s arrival and Waller attacked Orton from the back. Waller tried for ten punches to the fsce, but Orton hit back. Both went outside the ring and Orton took Waller to the Time Keeper’s Area. Orton is distracted by Theory & Logan, Waller used the chance and hit a Flatliner on him over the announcement table.
After the commercial, Waller locks Orton’s neck and Orton fights back with a couple of Clothesline and a Powerslam. Orton looks for an Elevated DDT, but Waller took Orton down. Waller tried for a Suicide Dive, but Orton his a backdrop on the announcment table.
Theory distracts Orton standing in the apron. Orton is aware of Waller coming from the back and pushed him to Austin and hit an Elevated DDT. Orton looks for a RKO, but Theory saved him. Orton took Theory with another DDT and hit an RKO on Waller for the win.
Logan Paul’s WrestleMania Opponents announcement
After the match, Theory attacked Orton from the back and Logan tried to punch him. However Owens saved him. Owens tried to lift Orton, and Orton tried to RKO him but stopped. Theory got hit with a Stunner, followed by an RKO.
Logan went off in shock, Nick Aldis appeared and made his United States Championship match a Triple Threat Match, announcing Kevin Owens & Randy Orton as his opponents.
Santos Escobar vs Dragon Lee / Rey Mysterio Returns
Dragon Lee strikes first, taking the initialy pace to take Escobar out and hit a over the rope senton. Lee superkicked inclined Escobar and hit a Powerbomb. Lee is distracted by Humberto and Angel, and he took both down. While entering the ring, Escobar hit a Fantom Driver for the win.
LDF attacked Dragon Lee, Carlito came for the save, but thr numbers game took Carlito down. Escobar tried to assault Carlito, but Rey Mysterio arrived. Rey took Escobar for a 619, but Escobar escapes. Mysterio challenged Escobar for an 1-on-1 match with Escobar next week.
Tag Team Championship Qualification Match- New Catch Republic vs Pretty Deadly
This is a tag team qualifying match. Tyler Bate and Wilson. Bate tagged Dunne and he stretches Wilsons finger. Prince took Dunne with a leg sweep over the apron and tags in. Both with a back to back tag-ins tried to take down Dunne, but he took both and tagged Bate. He is fired up and takes both Wilson & Prince singlr handedly with immense power. Bate took Wilson for a big swing before the commercial.
After the commercial, Bate took Wilson with a Vertical Suplex. Dunne and Prince got tagged in. Dunne took Prine with a step up enzigiri, Wilsone with a suplex to the apron. Bate tags in and looks for a cover, but Pretty Deadly took them in control. They sent both Dunne & Bate to the ring post and hit a double team Bulldog from the top rope, but Bate kicked out. Bate took both Wilson & Prince down, tags Dunne and they hit burning hammer for the win.
Bayley vs Dakota Kai
Bayley took Dakota Kai down with a takedown. Kai sneaks out, but Bayley took her in. Bayley took Kai to the corner, hit Kai face first to the apron and hit an elevated DDT outside the ring. After the commercial, Bayley hit Kai with the knee. Damage CTRL distracts and Kai takes control. Both went to the top rope, Balyley pushed Kai down and hit an Elbow Drop. Damage CTRL paves way for Kai to take control with a kick to the face, however Bayley took Kai with a powerbomb.
IYO SKY sneaks inside the ring and looks to attack her with the belt. Asuka & Kairi tried to attack from the back, but Bayley took them down. However SKY striked Bayley on the face to end the match.
As Damage CTRL tried to assault, Naomi came for the save. She took Kai, Kairi & Asuka, but IYO attacked her with a double knees to the back of the head. Kai, Kairi & Asuka hit triple-knees to the face of Bayley and lifted her in the air and IYO land a Moonsault on her to end this week’s SmackDown.

- The Rock hosted a Concert to cut a promo against Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins.
- Legado Del Fantasma defeated Latino World Order to qualify for the Tag Team Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania 40
