WWE should acknowledge these wrestlers’ contributions to the wrestling business

WWE most of the time didn’t have cordial relations with their past stars. The company rewards some of its all-time greats with a Legends contract. The contract ensures these yesteryear stalwarts have a steady source of income. It also involves a designated cut of profits from merchandise sales and using wrestlers’ likenesses in video games.

In some cases, it could also involve on-screen appearances. Legends like The Undertaker and Kurt Angle are associated with WWE through this contract. However, there are some other wrestling icons that the Stamford-based promotion could sign on a ‘Legends Contract.’ Let’s take a look at the wrestlers who should sign the dotted line.

5. Mickie James

Mickie James carried the baton of WWE’s women’s division after the departure of Lita and Trish Stratus. She deserves credit for the level of consistency she has displayed throughout her career. The six-time women’s champion has had an illustrious career not only in WWE but also in TNA.

She signing a WWE Legends contract would mean WWE recognizes her contributions to the female roster over the years. James could also impart some of her in-ring expertise to younger talents. It is likely a win-win situation for both her and WWE.

4. Kevin Nash

The first half of the 1990s was unpredictable for WWE, and very few wrestlers made a mark on the industry. Kevin Nash was one of those names who could be relied upon in those testing times. His work as Diesel was top-notch, and he was regularly featured in the main event picture before departing for WCW.

The manner of Nash’s departure was not ideal, but he mended ways with the company and has had multiple stints in WWE since. Not to mention, Triple H is at the helm of the wrestling juggernaut, and he is a good friend of the ‘Silver Fox.’ It wouldn’t be a surprise if Nash does end up signing a WWE Legends contract soon.

3. Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart

One more of the shining lights in WWE during the 90s. Bret Hart has etched his name in the wrestling folklore forever. His countless battles with the likes of Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker and Yokozuna are epic.

‘The Hitman’ and WWE’s relations were sour for more than a decade after the infamous ‘Montreal Screwjob.’ But both parties have since reconciled and are on good terms. Giving Hart a WWE Legends contract could be a way for WWE to honor his legacy.

2. Stone Cold

Never the one to stand on ceremony, Stone Cold is arguably the biggest star of the acclaimed ‘Attitude Era.’ His outlandish antics and tremendous ring work made him a household name in the 90s. ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ possessed a charisma very few performers have, and that is what made him special.

He has been associated with WWE in different capacities after his retirement from the ring in 2003. Signing him on a Legends contract makes sense both on the business front and could also help acknowledge his contributions to the business.

1. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan has done the hard yards to become the icon he is today and has played an instrumental role in bringing wrestling to the mainstream. ‘The Hulkster’ could well be termed the first superstar to come out of the wrestling world. Hogan’s popularity knows no bounds, and he is undoubtedly the most recognizable face in the industry ever. Getting his signature on a WWE Legends contract should be a no-brainer for WWE.

Wrestlers of the past walked so that present-day wrestlers could run. These legends have given their heart and souls to the wrestling business and, as such, deserve a Legends contract.
