The company can book these title clashes to make the event a memorable one
The upcoming Clash At the Castle, the next thrilling installment of WWE’s international PLEs, is poised to ignite Glasgow with excitement next month. The announcement of local hero Drew McIntyre challenging Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship has set the stage for a night of wrestling that fans won’t forget soon. But the excitement doesn’t stop there.
A multitude of other simmering rivalries could potentially lead to epic matches on the night. Let’s dive into the five title matches WWE could potentially book for Clash at the Castle 2024, adding to the anticipation and thrill of the event.
5. Awesome Truth vs The New Day
Pitting the tag team champions against one of the best tag teams ever to step into a WWE ring is a significant move. Awesome Truth and New Day recently came face to face during a segment on RAW, sparking hopes of an unforgettable clash that could be on the cards come Clash At The Castle.
The New Day will seek momentum in their quest for another tag title run by defeating AOP on next week’s edition of RAW. This match could be instrumental in deciding the next No. 1 contenders for the doubles gold.
4. Logan Paul vs LA Knight
Given WWE’s propensity for long-term storytelling under Triple H, this match would most probably take place at this year’s SummerSlam. But it would be a bit of good business if the Stamford-based promotion decided to take a punt and book Logan Paul vs LA Knight for international audiences.
The rivalry promises to be a mouth-watering affair if the recent face-off between the two dynamic performers is anything to go by. Granted, Paul’s US title defenses have been few and far between, but making this match official for Glasgow would significantly raise the stakes for the event.
3. Sami Zayn vs Chad Gable
These two have been at it even before WrestleMania XL, yet the feud has shown no signs of ending anytime soon. The rivalry has seen different versions of Chad Gable as he has transformed into a despised heel. Sami Zayn is still angered by the unwarranted attack carried out by Gable at Montreal after their match.
The two did compete against each other at King and Queen of the Ring but had a third performer, Bronson Reed to contend with. WWE could book the next edition of Zayn and Gable’s battle with a stipulation to make it spicier.
2. Bayley vs Piper Niven
With no Damage Ctrl to deal with at SmackDown, Bayley would have breathed a sigh of relief. Little would she have known that Piper Niven was waiting in the wings to catch her off guard. That is what happened in the last episode of SmackDown.
An unhinged Niven brutally attacked the Women’s Champion after she had the heavyweight wrestler’s partner, Chelsea Green, beat. Bayley squaring off against Niven could be a massive hit among the Glasgow crowd as the latter hails from Scotland. WWE has made its intentions clear with this one, and it should not come as a surprise if this match is made official soon.
1. Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton
Cody Rhodes has been a fighting champion ever since his WrestleMania victory. He has been put to the limit in both his defenses against AJ Styles and Logan Paul. However, Randy Orton could pose a different challenge altogether. Not to mention, he has been a mentor to ‘The American Nightmare’’ throughout his career.
The potential of storytelling in this one is huge and has the making of a perfect main event for Clash At The Castle. The coming together between Rhodes and Orton recently suggested that a match between the two is just around the corner.
WWE finds itself spoilt for choices with so many intriguing rivalries going on simultaneously. The fans would hope that the company puts absolute bangers on the card for its next European excursion.
