Asuka suffered a legitimate knee injury & underwent knee surgery.
Asuka is one of the best professional wrestlers of the modern era. She is a member of the Damage CTRL faction. Asuka has been in WWE since 2015 and plays a major role in the women’s roster. She is a nine-time champion in WWE and has been involved in several engaging storylines.
Asuka has been away from Television for over a month due to a legitimate injury on her left knee. Due to this, Asuka had to pull out from the Queen of the Ring tournament and was later written off from television. Since she has been away from WWE for a very long time, here we explore her potential WWE return timeline.
Asuka’s WWE return status
Earlier this year on the road to WrestleMania 40, Asuka had an injury scare during the SmackDown tapings and was limping with her knee, but luckily her injury didn’t stop her from competing in the in-ring competition. However, her injury got worse with time after the 2024 Backlash PLE, as the backstage reports and sources within WWE confirmed that she had been working with pain for months.
As there were no updates about Asuka for a long time, The Empress posted a video on her YouTube channel, ‘KanaChanTV’. The video reveals that Asuka successfully went through surgery and has been using a walker and crutches to walk. The 42-year-old was barely able to walk with both feet and is on her post-surgery recovery.
There is no official information about her return timeline yet, but the condition she is currently in hints that she could not be returning anytime soon. She could likely miss this year’s SummerSlam PLE, however nothing is confirmed yet.
The Empress last appeared on WWE at the 2024 Backlash PLE, where she teamed up with fellow Damage CTRL member Kairi Sane and defended their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill and lost. The reports revealed that Asuka was injured before and worked for a 17-minute match with the pain, making her the MVP of the PLE.
As “The Empress” successfully went through her knee surgery, we wish the 42-year-old a speedy recovery.
