Donald Trump was found guilty for hush-money payments
Following his conviction on 34 federal counts, Donald Trump has stated that he would fight until the end. On May 30th, Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 charges of manipulating company documents to hide hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels. The conviction made Trump the first former president to be convicted of a felony.
Trump was accused of misrepresenting payments to his lawyer, Michael Cohen. The prosecution successfully maintained that these payments were reparations for hush money paid to Stormy Daniels, a former adult film star.
Donald Trump won’t back down
Donald Trump will be sentenced on July 11th, after his attorneys requested a mid-to-late July date to avoid a clash with another court hearing in Florida.
Following the judgment, Trump described it as a “disgrace,” adding that the trial was “rigged.” He went on to indicate that he would keep fighting, saying, “This is far from over” as he walked away without addressing any questions from the gathering reporters.
Donald Trump has been affiliated with the McMahon family since the 1980s, with his properties hosting two WrestleManias. Trump went on to shave McMahon’s head bald at WrestleMania 23 before making more Raw appearances in 2009.
Meanwhile, from 2017 to 2019, Linda McMahon led the Small Business Administration as part of Trump’s cabinet.
It was recently rumored that Vince McMahon had been in communication with Donald Trump after leaving WWE, however, McMahon’s spokeswoman later refuted this.
Trump and McMahon have been linked for decades, with Trump-owned venues hosting WrestleMania 4 and 5, as well as the former President making multiple on-screen appearances, engaging in a rivalry with McMahon that culminated at WrestleMania 23, and being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
In an April 2024 update, NBC News said that McMahon and Trump are still in frequent touch, although a McMahon representative refuted this. In addition, McMahon’s wife Linda continues participating in Trump’s political efforts and is named as an independent director in an SEC filing from April 2024.
