WWE SmackDown Full Results & Winners (August 23, 2024): The Bloodline retains the tag team titles

LA Knight retains the US title, Bloodline retains the tag team titles, Owens & Cody stand tall against Waller & Theory & much more!!!
The August 23, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown is officially over and it is one of the must watch episodes in recent times. WWE showcased a number of interesting matches and segments were showcased on the show including two championship defense. Get to know what happened on this week’s SmackDown, as we came out with the complete show summary of the show.
WWE SmackDown Summary & Highlights
Grayson Waller Effect with Cody Rhodes
Grayson Waller & Austin Theory kicked-off Friday Night SmackDown and they invite their special guest for the evening Cody Rhodes to the ring. Waller cuts Cody off during the mid-entrance and then his signature intro catchphrase. Waller said that the people chant for Cody wherever he goes, but he knows his true colors.
Waller claims Cody as selfish and saying that he used his friendship to save his title over and over. Cody counters saying are Waller & Theory actually friends, as he has been using Theory again and again and the fans wanted Theory to turn on Waller.
Waller stopped him and said that they can’t be separated or betrayed, but he know who could betray and played a video tape of Kevin Owen‘s betrayal in the past. Owens interrupted them and asked for a tag team match and Aldis gave permission for Owens to involve in a brawl quick. During the brawl, Owens accidentally attacked Cody, but went to apologize to him.
United States Championship Match- LA Knight vs Santos Escobar
Before the match began Angel & Berto attacked LA Knight taking him outside the ring. The referee sent angel, Berto and Elektra Lopez to the backstage and officially begin the match. Santos Escobar took control of Knight initially using the pre-math attack as the advantage.
After the commercial, Knight delivered a neckbreaker, making Escobar roll out. Knight chases him and bumps his head to the announcement table with a series of strikes. Knight tried to break the table, but Escobar druves Knight to the table and hit the meteora.
Inside the ring, Escobar delivered a Frog Splash for a nearfall. Escobar continues domination, but Knight with the spinebuster and and a clothesline took him down. Knight gets his momentum back with the neck breaker and a side effect for a nearfall. Escobar delivered the back hand, a super kick and took him to the corner, but Knight pushes him down. Knight from the top rope delivered a big Elbow and followed with a BFT to retain the US title.
Backstage
Escobar was angry on Angel and Berto. Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews interfered them and Corbin made fun on Escobar, for his loss. Escobar wanted a match against Corbin next week, if he thinks he is a title contender.
Unholyy Union & Blair Davenport vs Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair & Naomi
Isla Dawn and Bianca Belair started the match and Dawn gave the fight to Belair. A brief gap made Belair took confrol of Dawn with the spinebuster and the lionsault. Dawn is sent out anf Belair took her out with the springboard crossbody.
After the commercial, Blair Davenport took Bianca in control and the back to back to back tag-ins took Belair down. They lock Belair in their corner and they go for cheap shots. Belair tried to make ot o the other side, but Fyre went for a innovative standing submission. Belair took Fyre down with the back buster and Dawn tried to stop her. Belair took Dawn down and tagged Cargill in.
Jade was fired up and she took all the three single handedly. She overpowers all the three and tagged Naomi in. Naomi clears house with doubling the offense. Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn is taken out and Belair jumped over them. Naomi with a moonsault pinned Davenport for the win.
The Bloodline
Solo Sikoa wanted the Washington DC to acknowledge him. He wanted the people to stay calm as the Tribal Chief has a lot to talk about. He says that the OTC is DONE. He says that whoever wins at Bash in Berlin (Kevin Owens or Cody Rhodes), he stands next. He looks to bring the title back to Bloodline. He asks Jacob Fatu to give his title to Tonga Loa. Solo says Fatu can’t be a tag team champion, as he is the enforcer of him. Fatu said he love Solo.

LA Knight looks to defend his United States Championship next week on SmackDown in Berlin in a open challenge.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match- The Bloodline vs The Street Profits
Tonga Loa and Angelo Dawkins start the match, with Dawkins having the initial strikes. Loa fights back and tagged Tama Tonga for a double team move. Ford gets the tag and he took Tama down and delivered a stsnding moonsault. Ford delivered a clothesline and tried to attacm Loa, but Tama attacked him from the back and tags Loa to deliver a double team neck breaker-powerbom combo.
Street Profits fights back delivering a similar combo and Ford delivering a Frog Splash. Tama breaks the pin and The Bloodline gave the fight back, before the commercial. After the commercial, The Bloodline controls Ford and he fights back with a DDT. Dawkins is tagged in and he is fired up. He delivered the rolling neck breaker and Loa breaks the pin.
Dawkins with the bulldozar sends The Tongans to the barricade and Ford jumps on them. Solo distracts the referee and Fatu took Dawkins and Ford with the superkick and helping Tama Tonga to deliver the running facebuster to pin Dawkins and The Bloodline retain the tag team titles.
The Bloodline attacked Street Profits and DIY cane for the save. They clear house and targeted Solo Sikoa with the super kick. They measure for the meeting in the middle, but Jacob Fatu stopped Gargano and made Solo deliver the Samoan Spike on Ciampa.
Backstage
Tiffany Stratton & Pretty Deadly tries to fix the crown, which Michin damaged. Jax wanted Tiffany to fix the crown. Chelsea Green and Piper Niven talks about last weeks attack and says that if is was for them, they would not made Michin to make it to the match 100%.
Chelsea says that if could be a plan of Tiffany. If Michin attacks Nia and it could be the perfect time for her to cash-in. Nia stops them and said that she said that he will take care of Michin next week, as Nia Jax vs Michin for the WWE Women’s Championship in a Street Fight is set for next week.
Cody Rhodes & Kevin Owens vs A-Town Down Under
Cody Rhodes and Grayson Waller starts the match, where Cody taking initial control to tag Owens. Owens delivered a senton and they go for a back to back tag in. Waller and Theory play the distraction and cheap shot game to keep Owens in control before the commercial.
After the commercial, Owens pushed Waller down and delivered a frog splash. Cody and Theory tagged in and The American Nightmare is fired up. Cody delivered the powerslam, disaster kick and looks for a suicide dive, but Theory pulled Cody out. Cody took Theory and went back to the ring only to receive the rolling Flatliner from Waller.
Theory tags in and delivered the rolling DDT and locks his neck to gain control. Cody delivers the Cody cutter from the middle rope and tries to tag Owens, but Waller tried to distract Owens. Theory and Waller with the double team took Cody in control, however Cody sent both out of the ring to tag Owens.
KO runs outside and took both their opponent down delivering sentons. Inside the ring, Owens delivered another senton and swanton to Waller. Owens delivered the Stunner to Waller and pinned him for the win. After the match, Kevin Owens had his hands on the title and teased of attacking Cody, but when Cody seen him, he gave the title to Cody and they celebrated the win.
SmackDown Results
- LA Knight defeated Santos Escobar by pinfall to retain the United States Championship.
- Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair & Naomi defeated The Unholy Union & Blair Davenport by pinfall.
- Solo Sikoa asked Jacob Fatu give his title to Tonga Loa, as his enforcer can’t be a tag team champion.
