Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 8 Results: Asmita Dey & Harsh Singh capture historic golds, Neeraj Chopra wins silver

India won six medals on Day 8, taking its total tally to 23 medals.

India picked up two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals on Day 8 of the Commonwealth Games 2026. The country currently stands at No. 10 on the medal tally.

The country enjoyed a near-flawless day, with success coming from almost every discipline. Judo contributed to two gold medals and one silver medal, while track and field lived up to the expectations.

The men’s javelin throw final saw India take home silver and bronze. The country also won its first-ever medal in decathlon.

In boxing, all 10 athletes, including Preeti Pawar, Ankush Panghal, Jadumani Singh, Arundhati Choudhary, Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Choudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Lovlina Borgohain, Sachin Siwach, and Narender Berwal, registered strong wins to qualify for the gold medal match on August 1.

After enjoying a strong day on July 31, the country looks at adding several more medals to its tally, with the aim of storming into the top five of the medal table.

• Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal in the men’s javelin throw final with a best throw of 85.83 m – Report
• Yash Vir Singh won the bronze medal in the men’s javelin throw final with a personal best throw of 85.41 m – Report
• Rohit Yadav finished seventh in the Men’s Javelin Throw Final with a best throw of 81.56 m.
• Tejaswin Shankar won the bronze medal in the Men’s Decathlon with a total of 7,976 points – Report
• Vishal TK, Rajesh Ramesh, Rashdeep Kaur, and Asna Babu qualified for the Mixed 4x400m Relay Final with a time of 3:20.98 in the heats.
• Santhosh Kumar Thamilarasan and Yashas Palaksha finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the Men’s 400m Hurdles Final with timings of 50.37s and 51.81s.

• Preeti Pawar defeated Catherine Mwape in the Women’s 54 kg semi-final, assuring herself of at least a silver medal.
• Ankush Panghal defeated Joshua Ofri in the Men’s 80 kg semi-final, assuring himself of at least a silver medal.
• Jadumani Singh defeated Philip Haoseb in the Men’s 55 kg semi-final, assuring himself of at least a silver medal.
• Arundhati Choudhary defeated Rosie Eccles in the Women’s 70 kg semi-final, assuring herself of at least a silver medal.
• Jaismine Lamboria defeated Rapelang Maselela in the Women’s 57 kg semi-final, assuring herself of at least a silver medal.
• Sakshi Choudhary defeated Amber-Jane Wall (Canada) in the Women’s 51 kg semi-final, assuring herself of at least a silver medal.
• Priya Ghanghas defeated Lucy Kings-Wheatly (England) in the Women’s 60 kg semi-final, assuring herself of at least a silver medal.
• Lovlina Borgohain defeated Tarona Khanum Badi Pasoni Taafaki in the Women’s 75 kg semi-final, assuring herself of at least a silver medal.
• Sachin Siwach defeated Owain Harris Allan (Wales) in the Men’s 60 kg semi-final, assuring himself of at least a silver medal.
• Narender Berwal defeated Nigel Paul (Trinidad and Tobago) in the Men’s 90+ kg semi-final, assuring himself of at least a silver medal.
