Petr Kratky has full confidence in his Mumbai City contingent.

In their upcoming clash, Mumbai City FC will take on Punjab FC in what promises to be an intriguing encounter. Mumbai, coming off a draw against FC Goa, find themselves in a neck-to-neck race with Odisha at the top of the table, both boasting 32 points from 16 matches. This game marks their first in March, a crucial juncture as they seek to maintain their position and edge closer to securing the top spot.

Meanwhile Punjab FC, despite languishing in 10th place with 17 points, have displayed a resurgence in form lately. With three victories in their last four outings, they’ve demonstrated an ability to upset higher-ranked opponents.

As Mumbai prepare for this match, head coach Petr Kratky and defender Mehtab Singh addressed pre match press conference. Excerpts are below:

New Month, Same Approach

February was exceptional for Mumbai City FC, winning three, drawing one, and losing one match. When asked about March, Kratky replied, “Same like how we approach every month and every game. February was very good, except Jamshedpur, where we had a hiccup, but after that the team got together and worked very well. We just have to keep going.”

Tough Game

Despite lingering in 10th position, Punjab’s recent performances have been menacing. They defeated Kerala Blasters, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, showcasing their formidable potential. Mehtab Singh acknowledged their prowess and mentioned, “Punjab are a tough opponent. They are also doing well now. They won their last game, and it seems like their team is now settled. It will definitely be a tough game for us, considering it’s an away game. We are focusing on how we have to approach the game and to give our best.”

Petr Kratky expressed unwavering belief in his team’s capabilities. The tactician said, “Punjab are a very good team. They are strong at home, and we are fully aware of that. But, I believe in our ability and our players. It will be a good game again. We are aware of Punjab’s quality, but I have full confidence in our group as well.”

On Madih Talal and Luka Majcen

The coach also shed light on Punjab FC’s top performers, Madih Talal and Luka Majcen. “They are good players. They also need support from their teammates, but we know their quality. We just have to be ready for that and be focused on ourselves,” he added.
