The Mumbai City FC head coach also feels his team is getting better game-by-game.
The Indian Super League game between Mumbai City FC and Kerala Blasters at the Mumbai Football Arena ended in a 1-1 draw, resulting in the sides sharing a point each. Raphael Messi Bouli gave the visitors the lead in the 75th minute, only for Amine Chermiti to equalize two minutes later. Following his side's third consecutive draw, Islanders head coach Jorge Costa spoke to the media in the post-match press conference. "In the last three games, we finished with three points and in my opinion, we deserved to finish with nine. This is my opinion and I don't know if you share the same opinion. I think we did enough to get the nine points," Jorga Costa began. [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Mumbai City's Performance In First Half Although, Mumbai City managed to come out of the first half without conceding a goal, the visitors looked the better side for most of the first 45 minutes. While he was prepared for the threat posed by Kerala Blasters, Jorge Costa admitted that some individual errors saw things go wrong for his side in the first half. "It was not a surprise for us that they changed the setup. We spoke before the game that maybe this can happen. We spoke after seeing their first XI, that for sure they will play 4-2-3-1. So, I cannot say that this was a surprise for us," the Portuguese said. "Something went wrong in the first half. I am sorry, I will not say what because it was an individual player who was not doing what he is supposed to do. With all respect for all the players, I think you understand, I cannot tell you exactly what was wrong," he explained. Final Result Despite his side failing to step up in the first half, Jorge Costa expressed his delight at how the team created chances and recovered after conceding. While the Portuguese was not happy to share the points with Kerala Blasters, he is confident that the team is getting better game-by-game. "We played good, we created more chances. They scored from one mistake in the back. We were not in the right place when they scored. Then we have to work to recover the game. We tried, we were so close to scoring one more goal and at the end, it is one point. It's not enough. I cannot be happy with the point, but I believe in this team. I believe that game-by-game we are getting better," Jorge Costa asserted. With the Islanders' attackers failing to put away the opportunities, Jorge Costa was asked what his message to the players would be. "(My message to them would be) to keep doing the good work they are doing. If I was sitting here today and you ask me 'Coach, you lost 1-0 and you did not even create one opportunity to score, I will say you are right and immediately I will take my things and I will go home because this is not a problem. To have chances to score and to don't score, okay, it is also something I don't like, but at least it shows that we are working and we are creating. These are not excused," Jorge Costa ended.Latest News
