5. vs Jinder Mahal (SmackDown 2017)
In November 2017, within one week from the Survivor Series Styles challenged Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship. The champion will represent SmackDown and fight Brock Lesnar of Raw at Survivor Series PPV. Styles was the fan favorite, however Mahal had the odds on him. However Styles delivered a Phenomenal Forearm from the top rope to win the WWE Championship for the second time.
4. vs Dean Ambrose (Backlash 2016)
At Backlash 2016, AJ Styles challenged Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship in the main event of the show. Styles gave his best to get into the title picture, by taking down Dolph Ziggler, who could be a potential opponent for the title. Both delivered a tough fight, where Styles targeted Ambrose’s leg and Ambrose tried to retain his title somehow.
In the final moments of the match, Ambrose accidentally pushed the referee out, which made Styles hit a low blow on Ambrose and delivered a Styles Clash to win the match and his first World Championship in WWE.
3. vs Rey Mysterio vs Kevin Owens (SmackDown 2024)
In April 2024 on an episode of SmackDown, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens & Rey Mysterio faced each other in a Triple Threat Match, where the winner will advance to the Undisputed WWE Championship #1 Contender’s match. The three best wrestlers in the blue brand delivered a great fight, where Styles delivered a Styles Clash on Rey Mysterio from the middle rope landing on Kevin Owens for the win. This was one of the best matches in the blue brand of recent times.
2. vs John Cena (Royal Rumble 2017)
At Royal Rumble 2016, AJ Styles defended his WWE Championship against John Cena in a singles match. This is one of the toughest fights of the year, where both kicked-out each other’s finishing maneuver right from the start. In the final moments of the match, Cena delivered four Attitude Adjustments on AJ Styles to win the match and the WWE Championship. With this Cena became the 16 time World Champion in WWE, equalling Ric Flair’s record.
1. vs John Cena (SummerSlam 2016)
At the 2016 SummerSlam pay-per-view, Styles faced John Cena in a singles match. The match went extreme, where both took each other to the limit. Both began to perform each other’s signature and finishers right from the beginning and with a number of variations.
However in the final moment of the match, Styles kicked out a Super AA, countered another AA to deliver a Phenomenal Forearm on Cena to win the match. After the match, Cena removed his armband and received a standing ovation, before going backstage. This is unofficially the end of Cena’s full time in-ring career.
