Drew McIntyre couldn’t redeem his WrestleMania 40 failed moment.
Drew McIntyre won his first world title in front of a live audience at WrestleMania XL. But, his triumph was short-lived, as he was involved in a battle with CM Punk, while Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and defeated McIntyre to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.
Drew McIntyre then continued to refer to The Archer of Infamy as the Paper Champion. McIntyre got the hometown advantage in WWE Clash at the Castle 2024, but despite this he was disappointed.
Drew McIntyre entered with lots of support from the Scottish fans
The first entrant was the challenger Drew McIntyre. He was showered with love from the Scottish fans. The Scottish fans went bonkers as Drew McIntyre entered the ring in style. Then came the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest who met with lots of boos from the Scottish fans.
The match started with both superstars showing their power, but McIntyre easily overpowered Prieest and kept attacking Priest. But, Priest takes a moment to counter and send McIntyre into the ring post.
Slowly, Priest started gaining control but Priest’s antiques didn’t go well with McIntyre as he countered with a spinebuster to again regain his momentum. But, Priest has the champions’ advantage which helped him to again gain control in the match.
But, McIntyre soon started firing up and started trashing Damian Priest. But, suddenly Priest was stuck in the rope but McIntyre got him out and started attacking him. But, with the injured leg suddenly Damian Priest suddenly fired up hitting McIntyre with a clothesline. But, McIntyre again came back hitting Priest with a future shock DDT.
CM Punk didn’t let Drew McIntyre redeem his mistakes
But, Priest later got the control and started mocking the Scottish fans. As Priest got over the top rope, McIntyre tried to counter but, Priest countered it into a crucifix powerbomb. But, McIntyre kicked out just in time to be in the match. Both men then started trading blows and started giving out everything, as Priest kept attacking McIntyre with his injured leg, McIntyre countered it into a neck breaker.
As, McIntyre started setting up for the Claymore Kick, Priest rolled out. But, McIntyre Claymored Priest into the barricade. McIntyre then started dragging Priest inside the ring as he again started setting up Priest. But Priest countered with a South of Heaven but McIntyre again kicked out of two.
The crowd started shouting “This is awesome” as both men gave their all. As the match went forward both men kept fighting. Priest hit McIntyre with a hurricanrana but in seconds McIntyre counters it with a Claymore kick, but unbelievably somehow Priest kicked out.
