“The Punjabi Playboy” joins “The American Nightmare” in an exclusive neck tattoo club
The Great Khali has joined the wrestlers’ neck tattoo club. The former World Champion has lately become popular in India due to his role in the upcoming general elections and collaboration with Jyoti Amge, the world’s tiniest lady. Fans may not have expected Khali to have a neck tattoo similar to that of the current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
Dalip Singh Rana aka The Great Khali, went to legendary Delhi tattoo artist Karan to get this tiger tattoo. This is a play on his genuine name Singh, which is a phrase that describes the king of the jungle. Khali received more than just a neck tattoo on his visit to Karan. He also got a whole right arm tattoo to honor his mother.
The Great Khali in WWE
Khali debuted on the April 7, 2006, episode of SmackDown, attacking The Undertaker and establishing himself as a force. He defeated The Undertaker at Judgment Day 2006, solidifying his position as a top-tier villain. In July 2007, Khali won the World Heavyweight Championship in a 20-man Battle Royal on SmackDown, becoming the first Indian-born World Champion in WWE history. He defended the title against Batista and Kane.
Post-championship, Khali engaged in feuds with John Cena, Big Show, and Triple H. He transitioned from a heel to a more comedic and lovable character, participating in segments like the “Khali Kiss Cam.” Later he embraced his “Punjabi Playboy” persona, and Khali became a fan favorite. He teamed up with other wrestlers and provided comedic relief while leveraging his popularity in international markets. He retired in 2014 but made sporadic WWE appearances afterward.
Post WWE career
The Great Khali has remained a sensation in India since he departed from WWE in 2014 after a great time with the promotion. In Punjab, the Giant established Continental Wrestling Entertainment, his wrestling school. WWE has signed wrestlers who began their careers with CWE, including Dilsher Shanky and Kavita Devi.
The WWE Hall of Famer joined India’s current ruling party, the BJP, in 2022. He has been engaged in the current general elections, making appearances to encourage local BJP candidates in Punjab and Haryana. He also just became popular with a video featuring Jyoti Amge. Amge is the world’s tiniest surviving woman, according to Guinness World Records, and Great Khali was seen hoisting the record holder in an Instagram video.
