Randy Orton was on WWE SmackDown this week confronting Triple H
The October 25, 2024 episode of WWE SmackDown began with a show-stopping encounter between two legends, Randy Orton and Triple H.
While many fans anticipated Orton to address his concerns with Kevin Owens, The Viper instead turned his fury toward WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H, seeking explanations as to why he was not provided with his long-awaited fight against Owens.
Orton who returned from an 18-month absence due to a career-threatening injury, was eager to settle the score with Owens. However, he believed that WWE, under Triple H’s care was trying ti shield Owens by not giving him the fight. After exchanging insults backstage, Orton made his way to the ring and boldly confronted Triple H.
Triple H then revealed that he wasn’t shielding Owen but rather he was to trying Randy Orton from Kevin Owens. Referring to Orton’s recent medical struggles, Triple H reminded him of the grueling nature of his recovery as he said, “You just came back after 18 months on the shelf. You didn’t tear your ACL. You didn’t put your shoulder out. You had steel rods put in you and were told you might never wrestle again. I just got you back, and I don’t want to see you put back on that shelf, maybe permanently.”

Despite Triple H’s reasoning, Orton wouldn’t listen as he again accused Triple H of playing favorites, claiming that the real reason for the delay was Triple H’s “soft spot” for Kevin Owens. “You have a soft spot for the guy,” Orton said. “I get it. He’s a likeable guy…just admit it, H.”
Triple H then tried explaining to Randy Orton that he wasn’t shielding Owens out of favoritism but because he saw something different in Kevin Owens a change that could put the other person in danger who steps inside the ring with him.
Randy Orton still stayed determined to push back on Triple H’s warnings. He talked about their history, recalling the ruthless rivalries they once shared. Orton said, “I didn’t ask Paul Levesque to come out here. I wanted The Cerebral Assassin…The Game, the guy that brought a sledgehammer everywhere he went.”
The appeal struck a chord and Triple H was visibly moved. Eventually, he caved in to Orton’s demand: “You want Kevin Owens at Crown Jewel…you got him. Randy, from this moment forward, I suggest you protect yourself at all times.”
So, the whole confrontation with Triple H was because he wanted a match against Kevin Owens, which wasn’t getting approved from the “top”. So, he straight away went to the CCO for the approval he needed.
