“The Best in the World” is one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time
CM Punk is one of the most popular and influential professional wrestlers of all time. The Second City Saint has been in WWE since 2005 and has created a unique style and name for himself. Punk has been successful everywhere he stepped in and attained monumental success in the industry.
Punk became one of the most charismatic and influential wrestlers in WWE, that everything inspired their fans. Some of the notable things in Punk are his Pepsi tattoo, ‘X’ representing his straight edge life, his ‘Go To Sleep’ gesture, his iconic entrance looking at the clock, screaming ‘clobberin’ time’, pipe bombs and being the voice of the voiceless.
CM Punk’s “It’s clobberin’ time” meaning
One such notable thing in CM Punk is his iconic entrance. Every time Punk makes his entrance to the ring, he drops to one knee to look at his watch and shouts, “It’s clobberin’ time!”. So if you don’t know what Clobberin’ time means, here we decode what it refers to.
It is reported that CM Punk’s “It’s Clobberin’ Time” refers to a Marvel fictional character ‘The Thing’. Benjamin Jacob “Ben” Grim aka The Thing is a founding member of the superhero team known as the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Comics Universe. He was the one who was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in The Fantastic Four. His character is known for his trademark orange rock-like structure, humor, blue eyes, and screams “It’s Clobberin’ time!” before the battle.
Backstage reports suggest that CM Punk is a long-time comic book fan and as a result he took his inspiration from Marvel’s superhero ‘The Thing’. CM Punk has been doing this scream since 2009.
CM Punk has also made the same scream after he returned to pro-wrestling in his AEW run and brought it back to WWE. He seems like he is still having the same charisma and energy in 2024.
Punk is currently stepped out from the in-ring competition due to his tricep injury. However he continues to continue his rivalry with Drew McIntyre by appearing on screen, cutting incredible promos and costing Drew’s match to make his life a living hell.
We wish Punk a speedy recovery and give hope to step inside the ring with his wrestling boots on to make it the real “Clobberin’ time”.
