At WrestleMania 40 kick-off, Cody Rhodes picked Roman Reigns as his opponent for WrestleMania XL. While cooking the feud, Cody Rhodes, The Rock and Roman Reigns talked about each other’s family to make it more personal. Cody said that their Grandfather would be ashamed of Roman Reigns for what he is.
To which The Rock said that both his and Roman Reigns‘ family, blood and ancestors are the same and slapped Cody to turn into a heel. Rock then joined hands with Roman Reigns and handled the situation. This has made a huge shock wave among WWE fans, now we speculate four reasons why The Rock turned heel.
4. WWE Universe turned on The Rock
The Rock was people’s favorite until he tried to replace Cody Rhodes hard earned spot at WrestleMania 40. The Rock confronting Roman Reigns was one of the most disliked segments in WWE and has been receiving negative chants since then. People stood on Cody’s corner and changed “Rocky Sucks” on the show and trended it on social media.
The negative reaction from The Rock could be one of the reasons for his heel turn. The Rock had already teased of a heel turn before the show during an interview with Pat McAfee, where he told Cody fans as Cody Cry babies.
3. Makes a perfect Bloodline
The Rock’s fight for the Head of the Table storyline hasn’t cooked in a long while. Roman was the one who carried the Bloodline, however it went weak in recent times. Rock being a part of the Bloodline could make the Bloodline storyline more spicy and cook the story on the road to WrestleMania. Rock & Roman Reigns taking out the opponents of Bloodline could be huge. Now he can trash talk with his cocky ascent with no babyface boundaries.
2. Family War
The Rock told that the Anoa’i family is the only loyal and dominant family of the wrestling industry, where Cody claims that wrestling has more than one loyal family. Which makes it a war of families. The battle of Anoa’i and the Rhodes family, where other wrestling families could join hands with Rhodes (may be the McMahon family? or the Orton family?).

Rock’s heel turn could be a part of pushing Cody Rhodes as the biggest star in the company. Cody defeating Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship by overcoming The Bloodline and The Rock could make one of the biggest moments of his career and would make him the biggest star of this so-called new era.
