Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns made official for WWE WrestleMania 40 main event

Ever since Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE, he has been teasing of finishing his story by dethroning Roman Reigns anf becoming the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Cody got a shot at WrestleMania 39 after winning the 2023 Royal Rumble and came shortly after The Bloodline involvement. Cody Rhodes hasn’t received the rematch for the title then. Cody tried his best to win the Royal Rumble match back to back to finish his story. 

However, Cody on last week’s SmackDown, announced that he wants the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and coming for him, but not at WrestleMania 40. Rock then confronted Roman and the build was to make Rock vs Roman at the main event of WrestleMania 40. This made Cody’s fans frustrated, as the hard earned spot was taken by Rock.

Fans showed their disappointment by making the Digital Exclusive segment of The Rock & Roman Reigns face off the most disliked video of WWE and then made #WeWantCody trending for days on X. It reflected on Monday Night Raw, where fans chanted We Want Cody and Rocky Sucks throughout the show.

WWE however teased The Rock vs Roman Reigns and advertised their face off at the WrestleMania Kickoff Press Conference. Within hours before the show, Cody said that he had made a decision. On the other hand Rock on the Pat McAfee show said that Cody Cry Babies and nobody cares about it.

At WrestleMania Kickoff, the ‘World Heavyweight Champion’ Seth Rollins came to the ring and said that he looks to main event WrestleMania 40, but it is not in his hands, but could hear from the 2024 Rumble match winner, and called out Cody. 

However, the ‘Undisputed WWE Universal Champion’ Roman Reigns came to the ring. Seth and Roman made fun of each other and Roman said that Cody is ‘Mr.Hesitant’, who was not able to make his own decision. Now the decision was on him and he chose Rock as his WrestleMania 40 opponent. 

The Rock then came out with mixed reactions from the fans. Rock displayed the Anoa’i family tree and said that their family is the only dominant & loyal family to the wrestling industry and it doesn’t matter what the people think, but they are going to make it at WrestleMania 40.

Cody Rhodes interrupted them and said that it is “bullsh*t” and said that Roman Reigns can’t make decisions, as he isn’t the one who won the Royal Rumble, and Cody is the one. Cody said that he has made his decision and he choses Roman Reigns as his opponent at the main event of WrestleMania 40.

Roman said that Rock vs Roman is a done deal and asked him to choose Seth Rollins for the number 2 title. Roman said that last year was Cody’s year and he is just a chapter in his book and he is irrelevant as his father. 

Cody got pissed off while talking about family and roasted The Bloodline. Cody said that if Roman and Rock’s grandfather was there, he would have felt ashamed of Roman. Rock then warned Cody that he is not only talking about Roman Reigns family, blood, and ancestors, but also his and slapped Cody.

On the backstage Roman and Rock asked Triple H to fix things or else they will and asked Cody to stop talking about their family or will slap his teeth away. Roman and Rock went as one and it’s unknown what is the status of Rock or how will the match be altered.

Triple H & WWE officially announced that Cody vs Roman Reigns official on the social media that he will finally get his chance to finish his story to which Cody retweeted and said that he is coming “for everything”.
