A former Indian-origin WWE Champion was recently released from the company
WWE is one of the biggest professional wrestling promotions, which has been hosting successful shows for over the last four decades. The company has some highly talented professional wrestlers all across the world and has been showcasing successful matches and storylines.
For which the promotion has a huge fan base all across the globe, especially in India. We have seen a number of Indian-origin wrestlers in the company in the past. However, are there any Indian wrestlers on the WWE roster? Here we take a deep look.
Are there any Indian wrestlers in WWE currently?
The quick answer for this question is No. WWE has recently released all the Indian and Indian origin wrestlers from the contract including Jinder Mahal, Veer Mahan, Sanga, and Guru Raaj. All the Indian talents were released earlier this month.
There isn’t any official update from the management on what was the reason behind their release, but Indian Ex-WWE Superstar, Sanga claims that the company is not willing to showcase Indian talents for whatever reasons, however they only wish to have viewership from Indian fans.
Sanga said,
“Whatever happened, happened for the good. Whatever is happening is happening for the good. Whatever will happen will also happen for the good.”
“When it comes to viewership, you look to our country, India. Whether it’s Facebook, YouTube, or TV, the audience is right there. However, when it comes to showcasing Indian talent, you seem reluctant to push it forward, whatever the reasons may be, whether it’s creative differences, work styles, or something else,”
“We are talking about a nation of 1.4 billion people. Those are 1.4 billion people who appreciate us. They want to see Indian talents showcased on an international stage. But you’re not willing to give those opportunities,”
Although WWE has zero Indian wrestlers on their current roster, Indian pro-wrestlers have a great history with the company. Jinder Mahal & Great Khali are World Champions in WWE, where Khali is a WWE Hall of Famer. Veer Mahan, Shanky and Sanga shared the ring with some of the top stars in the company.
Could we be able to see Indian wrestlers again in WWE? Will the Indian wrestlers prove their calibre to them and get their seats back in the company? We have seen Jinder Mahal prove it already. Comment your thoughts on WWE’s move of releasing Indian-based wrestlers.
