The Shield has been regarded as one of the greatest WWE factions of all time.
In 2012, a trio made their shocking presence felt at the end of the Survivor Series event and would forever alter the history of the WWE. Those three men, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, came together to be known as The Shield.
During their time as a faction, they laid a path of dominance and set the tone for each of them to break out on their own as some of the biggest names in the wrestling industry. Here is a look at the top five best matches for The Shield in WWE:
5. The Shield Vs. Team Hell No & Ryback
After making a huge statement in their first appearance at WWE Survivor Series 2012, The debut of the Shield inside the squared circle came at the TLC pay-per-view against the team of Kane, Daniel Bryan and the man they took out at the aforementioned event, Ryback.
The match featured insane spots, and the booking was perfect, befitting their debut. In the end, the trio claimed their first win over three bona fide main event stars.
4. The Shield Vs. Evolution
Towards the end of their stint as a faction in 2014, the last formidable rivals that The Shield were engaged in highly intense battles were against the reunited trio of Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista. Despite the legendary names in their way, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns managed to topple them in a hard-hitting Extreme Rules match at the namesake event with brutality, insane spots, and defining moments witnessed in the bout.

3. The Shield Vs. Team Hell No & Randy Orton
The match against Team Hell No and Randy Orton in 2013 on an edition of Friday Night SmackDown was a turning point in the tenure of The Shield. Up until this point, the trio had been undefeated as a faction. However, this match proved to be a highly enthralling affair with jaw-dropping moments, the ending of which saw Daniel Bryan tapping out Seth Rollins to hand the stable their first-ever loss as a unit.
2. The Shield Vs. The Wyatt Family
The epic encounter between The Shield and The Wyatt, two of whom are considered some of the greatest factions in WWE of all time, was a memorable sight to witness. Both teams squared off against each other on March 3, 2014, of RAW, which saw them tear down the house on the flagship show. The show’s closing saw Seth Rollins shockingly abandon his teammates after weeks of tension, leading to the Wyatt Family winning.
1. The Shield vs Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre, and Bobby Lashley
This match has its own significance in the history of WWE. Billed as WWE The Shield’s Final Chapter, the special event saw the final time Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins competed as a unit.
The trio went up against Baron Corbin, Drew Mcintyre and Bobby Lashley, displaying a formidable match and ending the bout with a win. This marked the end of The Shield as Dean Ambrose left WWE the same year for AEW, while Rollins and Reigns went on to become top stars in WWE.
