Kevin Owens came up with a plan but it didn’t work out

The atmosphere was electrifying as Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens competed for the WWE Undisputed Championship at Bash in Berlin 2024.

The bout began with a display of respect, with both men shaking hands before locking up. Rhodes seized control early with a wristlock and then an armbar, but Owens swiftly responded by backing Cody against the ropes and forcing a clean break.

Cody attempted to maintain pressure by shooting low, but Kevin Owens stopped him and executed a front chancery. Rhodes reversed into a hammerlock and then a side headlock, but Owens countered with a knee to break free, gaining control with his side headlock.

After a shoulder block stalemate, the tempo increased. Rhodes tried a Cody Cutter, but Owens blocked it, followed by a Beautiful Disaster kick, which Owens evaded before countering with a senton that took Cody by surprise.

Both men jockeyed for position, and Kevin Owens reversed an attempted Cross Rhodes and Cody countered a Stunner. Tensions rose as the two faced up in the ring, with Owens pushing Rhodes and jawing at him. Cody managed to reverse a waistlock and knock Owens to the ground, attempting a suicide dive that Owens stopped by tossing Cody onto the apron. Owens scored with a cannonball senton to the outside, leaving Rhodes stunned.

Back inside the ring, Cody connected with a Beautiful Disaster kick, knocking Kevin Owens to the floor. Rhodes completed a successful suicide dive, bringing the Berlin audience to its feet. Back in the ring, Cody used short arm scissors, but Kevin Owens rolled through and reached the ropes. Cody continued to assault, landing a kitchen sink knee for a two-count before Owens countered with chops and a side Russian leg sweep for his near-fall.

The momentum shifted back and forth as both guys exchanged blows and high-impact maneuvers. Owens landed a pump handle fisherman neckbreaker over his knee and an avalanche Finlay Roll from the top rope, but Cody kicked out. Owens’ Stunner attempt was countered by a Cross Rhodes, but he showed tenacity by kicking out at the last second.

As the struggle waged on, Owens landed a stunning avalanche fisherman buster, but it wasn’t enough to knock Cody out. Despite trading punches and superkicks in the middle of the ring, neither man gave an inch. Cody attempted a Cody Cutter, but his knee gave out, exactly as Owens anticipated. Owens paused, hesitant to exploit a weak opponent for a tainted triumph.

Cody seized the chance and battled back, countering a Stunner with another Cross Rhodes. Despite Owens’ gallant attempts, Cody Rhodes won by pinfall, retaining his WWE Undisputed Championship in a hard-fought match that kept the Berlin fans on the edge of their seats.
