Som Kumar reveals why he chose Europe over ISL

However, 18-year-old Som Kumar, a promising player in the Indian U-20 squad and a current member of NK Olimpija Ljubljana U-19 in Slovenia, had a different path in mind.

In a revealing interview in Khel Now's 'Beyond the Scores' podcast, Som Kumar discussed his decision to resist the temptation of joining an ISL club and opting to stay in Europe to advance his football career.

In his own words, "At the moment, I think that the progress that I'm making over here in Slovenia is really helpful in my career, and the training I'm getting is amazing…"

Elaborating on his choice, he explained, "That was a good experience for me; it helped me understand how an ISL team works, and they offered me a contract. It's nothing that I have against the club or the ISL, but at the moment, I think my focus is to stay in Europe and train in Europe."
