"TRAU FC have signed Nongthombam Singh ahead of the upcoming season," a source close to the developments informed Khel Now. We also understand that the forward agreed terms and signed a two-year deal with the Imphal-based side. This implies that he will remain with them till the end of the 2022-23 season.

Nongthombam's career
Nongthombam Joysana Singh began his football career at the AIFF Elite Academy. He has also represented India at the U-15 and U-17 levels. The 21-year-old shifted base to Chennaiyin FC in January 2018 and had been a part of their Reserves side since then.
The winger made seven appearances for them in the Second Division League that season. He followed that up with five more appearances in 2018-19. His maiden goal for the Marina Machans came on January 22, 2019, during a 1-2 defeat to Ozone FC in the league.
Nongthombam featured in all seven of Chennaiyin FC Reserves' matches in Second Division League 2019-20, before it got cancelled following the outbreak of COVID-19. Unfortunately, the youngster has not gotten any game-time since then.

TRAU FC's pre-season preparations
Like other teams in the I-League, TRAU have also kick-started their preparations for the forthcoming 2021-22 season. The team from Imphal was active in the title-race till the final game of last season, where they lost to Gokulam Kerala. It was the Malabarians who eventually took home the title as well.
Earlier this week, TRAU roped in former SC East Bengal defender Bikash Singh Sagolshem. The 20-year-old was a part of the Kolkata giants' youth teams and later played for them in the IFA Shield.
On the other hand, the club have also lost some key players of last season - including top-scorer Bidyashagar Singh, who is all set to join Bengaluru FC as reported by Khel Now earlier.
