Chelsea, Carmelo & Andrade qualifies for MITB ladder match, McIntyre assaults CM Punk, Jacob Fatu debuts and more!!!

The June 21, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown is officially over and it is one of the must watch episodes of SmackDown in recent times. A lot of stuff happened on this week’s show including the Money in the Bank qualifying matches. Get to know what happened on this week’s SmackDown, as we came out with the complete show summary, highlights, results and winner’s list.

CM Punk kicks-off Friday Night SmackDown with thunderous pops from the home crowd. The Best in the World said that he still feels pressure, when he steps inside the ring in Chicago. He went on to adress his actions and Clash at the Castle and McIntyre quitting WWE on Raw. Punk claimed that he promised to make Drew’s like a living hell, but didn’t thought that would be this easy.

Paul Heyman interfered Punk. He said that he come here with respect, as he sees Punk as his best friend. Punk asked is Heyman okay, sensing that Heyman is in pressure. Heyman hugged Punk with emotions and said that he came for a reason. Heyman wants Punk to leave the ring, as Solo Sikoa doesn’t like Punk running SmackDown in Chicago.

Punk claimed that nobody could do anything to him here. Solo Sikoa with The Bloodline interferes Punk and warned him to either respect the Bloodline or fight them. Punk asked Heyman, what he wants and he said that he want to be with Punk.

Punk went on to say that he doesn’t want to acknowledge the fake Usos and Cosplay Tribal Chief. The Bloodline tried to attack Punk, but Cody Rhodes with a couple of baseball bat saved Punk. Cody then called Solo Sikoa for a singles match tonight.

Backstage- Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens & Randy Orton

Randy Orton and Kevin Owens asked does Cody need to handle it alone and Cody said yes, because he wanted them to focus on qualifying for the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Backstage- Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill

Jade Cargill met Bianca Balair backstage and says that she talked with Aldis about their tag team titles rematch. Belair says that she now focused on qualifying for the tag team titles and then will come for the tag team title.

Money in the Bank Qualifying Match- Bianca Belair vs Chelsea Green vs Michin

The match began with Bianca Belair and Michin attacking Chelsea Green and making her leave the ring. As Michin and Belair fight inside the ring, Green stopped Belair from delivering the lionsault and took her ouside the ring. All the three exchange hands outside the ring, where Green delivered a suicide dive on them.

Back after the commercial, Michin super-plexed both Belair and Green down. Belair and Michin are quick to their feets and went tried to finish things up. Michin delivered eat the feet on Belair, sending her outside the ring.

Green tried to roll her down, but Michin delivered a Styles Splash on Green. Belair came back and delivered a KOD, but Green sent her out and pinned Michin to win and qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Backstage

Bayley watched Green’s win on TV, and got confronted by Blair Davenport. Davenport warned Bayley and her fried Naomi saying that she will defeat Naomi to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match and win the briefcase to cash-it on Bayley.

Backstage- Solo Sikoa & Paul Heyman

Solo Sikoa asked Heyman, is he trying to leave The Bloodline and he said no. Solo wants Heyman to do him a favor by asking Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa to make sure Randy Orton & Kevin Owens doesn’t qualify for the MITB ladder match. After informing them, Solo wants Heyman here, as they need to talk something important.

Backstage- Grayson Waller Interview

Grayson Waller was interviewed backstage about Austin Theory not here and Waller said that he wanted to dedicate his Money in the Bank qualifier with to Theory. #DIY confronted him saying that he is being fake and doesn’t care about Theory.

Drew McIntyre assaults CM Punk

During the interview a banging sound is heard outside the arena, where the shutter opened and revealed to be CM Punk, who is laid down and Drew McIntyre stands near him. McIntyre attacked Punk and carried him to the entrnace ramp, with Punk bleeding on his mouth. Drew threw Punk down and took his bracelet off. Nick Aldis with a bunch of medical representatives took Punk to the hospital and made Drew leave SmackDown.

As soon as the bell rings, Carmelo Hayes and Tama Tonga started attacking Randy Orton locking him in the corner. However both picked up a fight on who strikes Orton first. Orton took both down and delivered a couple of back drop over the announcement table.

Back after the commercial, Tama Tonga took Carmelo Hayes to the ring and attacked him with a clothesline and a headlock. Melo fights back with a couple of kicks and delivered a tornado facebuster. Melo tried for a springboard crossbody, but Tonga counters with a backbreaker. Orton stopped both of them and delivered a powerslam on Tonga. Orton hit a vertical super-plex on Hayes and looks for thr cover, but Tama Tonga stops him. Carmelo Hayes delivered a codebreaker and Tonga delivers a flatliner on Randy.

Both tried to pin Orton, but Orton fights each other. Orton is back on the feet and delivered a elevated DDT on both of them. Tonga Loa came to the ring to distract Orton, but Kevin Owens took him down. Orton is distracted on Loa, where Melo rolled him down to win and qualify foe the Money in the Bank ladder match.

LA Knight calls out Logan Paul

LA Knight called-out Logan Paul to the ring right away, but Logan seems like he is not here. Knight is upset on him and said that he can’t escape next week. wger SmackDown comes to Madisson Square Garden.

Santos Escobar interfered him and yelled him for calling out Logan Paul week after week. Knight claimed that he defeated him in every single time. Escobar tried to attack him, but Knight delivered a BFT to send him out of the ring. While Knight continues to cut promo against Logan, the champ returned and attacked him from the back, sending him to the ring post and striking with the big right hand.

Kevin Owens while making his way to the ring got attacked by Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa on the entrance barricade. Randy Orton saved Owens with the chair and Owens asked Randy to make sure they don’t interfere during the match.

Owens with one leg started the match and Grayson Waller sent him out of the ring. Andrade tried to finish it too soon with a back elbow strike, but Waller kicked-out. All the three took the fight out of the ring and to the apron, where Owens tried to powerbomb Waller, but landed back first on the apron and Andrade delivered a sunset flip powerbomb on Waller outside the ring.

Back after the commercial, all the thre are on the middle of the ring on their knees exchanging strikes. Waller took both with a couple of jumping knees. Andrade however took Waller down and hit double knees on them.

Owens fough back and both exchange strikes in the middle. Waller uses fhe momentum to deliver a rolling flatliner on both of them, but not enough to pin and qualify. Waller sends Owens out and Andrader delivers the fight to Waller. Both went for the top rope, where Owens took them with a powerbomb and delivers a swanton bomb on Andrade.

Owens tries for pop-up powerbomb, but his leg gave up. Andrade looks for his finisher, but Owens delivers him with a stunner. Waller pulls Owens out and looks for a rolling flatliner, but Andrade counters it with his finisher to win the match and qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Backstage

Paul Heyman asked why Solo Sikoa is doing this, as he is only ordered to have a check on Cody Rhodes until Roman Reigns’ return. Solo stops him and said that Roman is not coming back againn. Heyman is shocked and doesn’t know what to say.

Cody Rhodes landed punches on Solo’s face and sent him out of the ring to deliver a suicide dive. Cody sent Solo to the steel steps, targeting his mid-section. Taking the fight inside the ring, Cody tried for a Cross Rhodes, but Tama Tonga & Tonga attacked to Cody to end the match in no contest.

Brawl & Jacob Fatu’s debut

After the match Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa locked Cody’s hands asking Solo Sikoa to Samoan Spike Cody, but Randy Orton and Kevin Owens came for the save. Kevin Owens hit a stunner on Tonga Loa, Randy Ortin delivered a RKO on Tama Tonga and all the three measured Solo Sikoa. Sikoa went pleading in fear, but later laugh to reval Jacob Fatu. He made his debut, but superkicking Orton and Rhodes and by taking Owens down with a clothesline.

Fatu took Owens to the barricade and delivered a Samoan Drop on him over the steel steps. Fatu then speared Orton to the barricade. He dragged Cody out of the ring to lay him over the announcement table and break it by delivering a Samoan Splash from the top rope. With The Bloodline raising the ones, SmackDown comes to an end.

  • Chelsea Green defeated Bianca Belair & Michin to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match.
  • Carmelo Hayes defeated Randy Orton & Tama Tonga to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match.
  • Drew McIntyre assaults CM Punk in Chicago.
