Only a few stars have managed this feast in history

WWE is famous for its Premium Live Events, where Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank are considered to be one of the greatest ones after WrestleMania.

The Royal Rumble match draws its inspiration from the classic battle royal format, a spectacle where a cohort of wrestlers, typically numbering 30, converge in the ring with the singular objective of eliminating their adversaries. This elimination is achieved by hurling opponents over the top rope, ensuring that both of their feet make contact with the unforgiving floor below. It’s a chaotic clash where strategy, agility, and brute force collide in a grand display of athleticism and showmanship.

The Money in the Bank ladder match is a thrilling contest where several wrestlers engage in a high-stakes battle to secure a briefcase suspended above the ring. Within this briefcase lies a contract guaranteeing a championship match opportunity, which the winner can “cash in” at any time and place of their choosing within the subsequent year.

This dynamic element injects an unpredictable and strategic dimension into the WWE landscape, as the briefcase holder becomes a potential wildcard, capable of altering the course of championship reigns with a single, well-timed decision.

Let’s take a look at all the Superstars who have won both Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank Ladder matches in their WWE career.

Edge

Edge, the inaugural Money in the Bank winner, achieved a rare feat by capturing the briefcase twice. Additionally, he boasts two Royal Rumble victories.

What sets Edge apart is his ability to convert both Money in the Bank triumphs into championship gold through well-timed cash-ins. This double success underscores his strategic acumen and solidifies his legacy as a top-tier WWE superstar.

Alberto Del Rio

In 2011, Alberto Del Rio had a standout year in WWE, clinching both the Royal Rumble victory and the Money in the Bank briefcase. His crowning achievement came when he successfully cashed in the briefcase on CM Punk, claiming the championship title. Despite his past success, Del Rio has since departed from WWE, leaving behind a legacy of memorable moments in the ring.

John Cena

John Cena, an iconic figure in WWE, holds the distinction of winning both the Royal Rumble and the Money in the Bank briefcase. He secured his first Royal Rumble victory in 2008 and claimed a second win in 2013. In 2012, Cena captured the Money in the Bank contract.

However, his attempt to cash in on CM Punk ended in failure, marking him as the most prominent superstar to experience an unsuccessful cash-in. Recently, Cena made a memorable appearance at WrestleMania 40.

Sheamus

Sheamus, the Celtic Warrior just made his return to the ring again, he had a remarkable WWE journey, capturing the Royal Rumble victory in 2012 and the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2015.

His pivotal moment came at Survivor Series 2015 when he cashed in his briefcase on Roman Reigns, who had just secured his first title win on that very show. This strategic move altered the championship landscape, solidifying Sheamus as a formidable force in WWE history.

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar’s WWE career is marked by dominance, highlighted by his two Royal Rumble victories and one Money in the Bank win. In a stunning turn of events, he made a surprising return at Money in the Bank 2019, capturing the briefcase.

Three years later, he shocked the WWE universe once again by triumphing in the Royal Rumble match. Since his absence from WWE since SummerSlam 2023, fans eagerly anticipate his potential return to the ring, as Triple H said Brock is being Brock and will return soon.

Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins

The Architect just lost his Championship but has a great history in these two events where, in 2014, he clinched the Money in the Bank briefcase, holding onto it until WrestleMania 31.

There, in a move that stunned the WWE universe, he cashed in during the main event and emerged as the WWE Champion, five years later, Rollins emerged victorious in the Royal Rumble match, propelling him to further glory as he seized the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35.

Presently taking a hiatus from WWE, fans eagerly await his potential return as the winner, possibly at Royal Rumble 2025.

Randy Orton

Randy Orton boasts an impressive WWE history, with two Royal Rumble victories and a Money in the Bank win to his name. In a memorable moment, the WWE legend seized the opportunity to cash in his briefcase on Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam 2013, securing the title. Notably, Bryan had triumphed over John Cena in the main event, making Orton’s cash-in all the more dramatic and impactful.

Asuka

Asuka made history in 2018 as the first female WWE superstar to triumph in the inaugural Royal Rumble. Her accolades continued in 2020 when she secured the Money in the Bank briefcase.

However, Asuka’s path to the championship took a unique turn when Becky Lynch relinquished the title, allowing Asuka to claim the championship without cashing in her briefcase, further solidifying her legacy as a trailblazer in women’s wrestling.

Bayley

Bayley’s journey to WWE glory reached new heights in 2019 when she clinched the Money in the Bank briefcase, followed by a monumental victory in the 2024 Royal Rumble.

Her strategic prowess was on full display when she cashed in her briefcase on Charlotte Flair to seize the championship title at WrestleMania. Bayley’s triumphs continued as she successfully defended her title, defeating her opponent at WrestleMania 40, solidifying her status as a dominant force in the WWE universe.

It will be interesting to see who wins this year’s MITB and if that wrestler has already won the Royal Rumble. The MITB is scheduled to happen on 6th July 2024 at Scotiabank Arena, Toronto. Will it be Owens in front of his home crowd or someone else? We will find out soon.
